Open Positions for 2017-18 School Year

The only way we are able to provide programs, events and activities is through your help! We have one open Board position and eight open Committee Chair positions for the 2017-18 school year. Any of these positions could be shared, so feel free to sign yourself up with a friend!


If you are interested in volunteering with us, you must first fill out the district volunteer application  and complete the screening process.

Term of Office – One Year: July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018            Approximate monthly time commitment:  20 hours

The VP-Educational Enrichment is an elected member of the Executive Committee. This position reports to and is supported by the President.

All Elected Officers and Appointed Directors are encouraged to attend all BOD and GM meetings, and must be willing to sign and abide by the Peter Kirk PTSA Code of Ethics Agreement and Standing Rules.

The VP-Educational Enrichment responsibilities include:
o   Act as our Board’s “Chief Collaborator” in terms of Educational Enrichment.
o   Work as point person for all programs needing to go to the Board for discussion.
o   Work toward better collaboration with parents / staff / PTSA Board
o   Provide guidance to all members wishing to move a proposal forward in the approval process, and remain unbiased when dealing with all proposals brought before the Board.
o   With the members of the Executive Committee, facilitate the appointment of PTSA members to all non-elected Board of Director (BOD) and Committee Chair (CC) positions.
o   Recruit, prepare and facilitate the transition for your replacement upon your departure from office.
o   Support the following Directors, Chairs and Programs:

  • Director – Arts / Language Arts Programs
  • Chair – Before / After School Programs
  • Chair – 2nd Grade Garden
  • Chair/Vendor – 3rd Grade Outdoor Classroom

CHAIR – Before and After School Programs (BASP)

Term of Office – One Year: July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018       Approximate monthly time commitment:  10-12 hours

Position is appointed by the Board of Directors. Position reports to and is supported by the Vice President of Enrichment.

Chair of Before and After School Programs responsibilities include:

  • Carry out responsibilities related to managing, advertising and running programs and procuring vendors.
  • Report to the Board on program successes and challenges, as necessary.
  • Ensure that each vendor has a contract in place prior to the start of their program.
  • Ensure that each program has a parent chair (or other PTSA volunteer) in place prior to the start of their program.
  • After programs are complete, ensure evaluation/feedback forms are filled out and turned into the BOD.
  • Support and ensure all documentation / plans / equipment is stored in the correct location and is ready for the next year.
  • Recruit, prepare and facilitate the transition for your replacement upon your departure from office


CHAIR – Family Reading Night

Partner with the teaching staff to make Family Reading Night a must-attend event for next year. For event information, visit Family Reading Night.

CHAIR – Grounds Beautification

Lead a group of volunteers to help keep our school beautiful! Our Adopt-a-Garden program is already organized…you just need to keep it running, identify areas to create more beauty at our school and organize community work days. Visit Grounds Beautification for more about this program.

CHAIR – Eagles Marathon

This beloved event by students is ready to be transitioned to its next leader. Execute the program and organize volunteers to support our students in this amazing enrichment. For more information, visit Eagles Marathon.

CHAIR – Candy Buy-Back

Candy Buy-Back is a fun and healthy event that allows Peter Kirk kids to exchange their Halloween candy for cash.

CHAIR – Walk-to-School Day

Walk-to-School Day engages the community, parents and kids, as everyone learns about the benefits of walking to school.

Partner with our resident Art docent to lead one aspect of our art curriculum – clay. Visit Art Docents for more information.

Special Needs Liaison
