Open Positions for 2015-2016 School Year
Grounds Beautification Chair: Peter Kirk may be an old school, but there is a lot we can do to make it look better! Our PTSA has drafted an “Adopt-A-Garden” program to divide and conquer the task of beautifying the landscaping at Peter Kirk. Now we need someone to lead the way by implementing this program, organizing a few clean-up days throughout the year, and managing volunteers. Our Grounds Beautification Chair will work with our school principal, custodians, District grounds leads, parents, teachers, and community volunteers to help Peter Kirk look its best and to keep us herbicide-free. Co-chair on the PTSA Board as Director of Arts / Language Arts with Meredith Rasche: The co-chair will be the representative on the PTSA Board to attend monthly Board meetings and General Membership meetings throughout the school year. This person will be the communication pipeline between the Arts and Language Arts programs and the PTSA Board. Contact: Meredith Rasche email@example.com
Gallery Walk Chair: The Gallery Walk is Peter Kirk’s annual art show in mid-May. This person will coordinate the set up of the gym into an “art gallery” for the evening so that each of the Art Docents can display students artwork from each class. 3rd Grade Outdoor Classroom Chair – Third grade parents, here is a fun opportunity to get involved in your child’s classroom with minimal time commitment. The 3rd grade OC focuses on forest care and management of our own Peter Kirk Woods! The chair is responsible for coordinating three lessons throughout the year (fall, winter and spring). Lesson plans are ready to go, the chair just needs to schedule and coordinate parent volunteers in each class to carry out the lessons. Time commitment is ~ 15 hours throughout the school year. Eagles Marathon Classroom Representatives– The Eagles marathon is back for it’s second year! A parent volunteer is needed for each classroom to ensure this program is successful for our student runners. Each marathon representative will be responsible for tallying weekly mileage run by students and distributing mileage Toe Tokens. Estimated time requirement is about 1-1.5 hr per week from Sep 28 – Nov. 17. This is a great opportunity for working parents who want to get involved, since everything is done at home over the weekends.
