Peter Kirk’s Student Council is a strong presence in our school. Annual elections are held in October for various student positions and class representatives. We have several meetings throughout the year to discuss business, both serious and fun. We decide on spirit theme days throughout the year, as well as work to make improvements within our school and community.
The Peter Kirk Student Store is open most Fridays during lunch recess. We sell fun items such as Smencils, note pads, pencils, highlighters, and much more. All the proceeds go into our ASB account and we purchase much needed equipment or supplies for our school. We sell items until the end of May, or if we run out of supplies sooner.
Student Council is collecting Box Tops to help raise money. Last year we earned over $800 from box tops. Thanks to your support and assistance, the money raised will help purchase special items for our school.
Every year the student council encourages Peter Kirk students to participate in two service projects. In 2017-18, we collected clothes, sports equipment, books and much more for the Sister Schools Program. The supplies were sent to Uganda, and delivered to schools and orphanages. We made a huge difference in the lives of children across the world.
Another project was a money drive for Children’s Hospital. Our students wanted to thank Children’s Hospital for taking such good care of our own Tiffany Larson. We collected almost $1300 to help find a cure for cancer.
Peter Kirk students also wanted to focus on animals in need and in the past, we coordinated a supply drive for the Seattle Humane Society.
